Kelis Ndhlovu, the 19-year-old all-rounder from the Zimbabwe Women’s National Cricket Team, has been suspended from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The suspension follows an independent assessment that confirmed she uses an illegal bowling action.

The incident occurred after match officials reported her suspect bowling action during the first ODI against Ireland on July 26, 2025, in Belfast. She subsequently underwent an assessment in Pretoria, South Africa, where the left-arm spinner was found to be bowling with an illegal action. Consequently, the ICC suspended her from bowling internationally until she remodels her action and passes a re-assessment test, as per Article 6.1 of the ICC Bowling Regulations.

Kelis Ndhlovu is noted for her left-arm spin and has played 13 ODIs and 51 T20Is for Zimbabwe, scoring 192 and 822 runs and taking 19 and 44 wickets respectively. She also led the Zimbabwe U19 side during the inaugural ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup in 2023. The suspension could significantly impact the Zimbabwe women’s team, as she has been one of their key players.

The suspension remains in place until she undergoes re-assessment and her bowling action is confirmed to be legal.
